Exynos 4412 Samsung's new processor for Galaxy S3 announced

Samsung has presented at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (2012) his Exynos 4412 Processor, a very powerful QuadCore CPU that you will maybe see in the Galaxy S3 android smartphone.

Among other things, were also presented one dual-core processor, the Exynos 4212 which is based as the Exynos 4412 on the ARM A9, while this one is a quad-core CPU. While the other two models are already on the ARM A15.

They are manufactured in 32 nanometer process, only the Exynos 5450, the flagship, comes in a 28 nanometer process, which has a positive effect on aspects such as size, heat dissipation and battery life.

The Exynos 5450 gets a Mali-T658 GPU, which corresponds to a further development of well-known and often used Mali-400 (Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100), similar to that which are used in the two smallest models. The Exynos 5250 and the 4412 has a Mali-T604, which lies between the above two.

Exynos 5450 and the 5250 will be clocked up to 2GHz, the Exyno 4412 up to 1,8Ghz which should be enough to provide sufficient performance for 1080p screen resolution, software or flash application and demanding websites.

Ultimately, the quad-core models provide additional support for new memory technology with 128bit Bus and have implemented the 64-bit NEON media engine, which will provide additional performance for your software applications. The battery life is said to have been enhanced by an improved energy management.

ARM Roadmap till 2016

It will be very likely, that the Samsung Galaxy S3 Smartphone comes out with the Exynos 4412 since a roadmap by ARM Technologies shows a release of the Cortex A15 in second half 2013, so the superior 5250 and 5450 won't be release before 2013. There is some hope on the 5520 because Samsung mentioned earlier in November last year a release in late 2012 but the experts don't believe that anymore. The rumors and speculations won't stop until 3 May 2012 when Samsung will launch his android superphone in Londen.
